For steelwork that requires more than a docking, we have the technology to bring a 70ft boat into the unit. Here we have a Big Woolwich being winched up the slipway, for counter platework, and a new back cabin and engine room.

Boats that require out of water work, are craned out with our on site NCK crawler crane. The lifting capacity is 25 tons. A spreader frame connects to the main lifting hook, and wide nylon straps then go under the boat. This is good particularly for boats with wooden bottoms, such as IBEX seen here.

Smaller but typical underwater repairs could include rudder rebuilding, propellor and stern tube attention, and on newer boats, the replacement of anodes.

The most common reason for docking is blacking the hull. This should be done every 2 years, with at least 2 coats of good quality blacking paint applied below water level.On new boats we use 2 pack coal tar, which has far greater protection qualities than single pack paint.

Docking Costs.

Crane out and crane in again.....£150.00.

 

Blacking including crane hire and time on the bank; pressure wash hull, and apply 2 coats of 2 pack epoxy coal tar to hull sides and under counter, and 1 further coat of Intertuf 16 to all areas just painted, £10 per ft length of boat.

 

If a boat has not been docked regularly, rust around water line, and also pitting will be evident. Any extra work in addition to pressure washing will have a charge of £30.00 per hour plus materials.

For the DIY boaters, boat storage on the bank is £10 per day, (any length), and pressure wash hire £25.00 per day.
