WHAT TYPE OF BOAT?

All boats built by Roger Fuller are bespoke. We need to know from an initial enquiry what sort of boat you want. We have built working boats; pleasure boats; live aboards; and river based tugs.

WHAT MAKES OUR BOATS SPECIAL?

We build all the hulls ourselves, and do not buy in shells for fitting out. As the business is not mass production, you can be very sure your boat will stand out from the crowd. Our in house design is the double curved Josher fore end, well regarded as the most elegant of narrow boat fore-end designs.

TO WHAT STAGE OF COMPLETION?

We will build to steelwork only, sailaway, or full fitout. The decisions to be made by you the customer on steelwork, are not that daunting, but on a full fitout, we need to know every detail from you before we can put your ideas into practice.

WHAT TYPE OF ENGINE?

Many of our boats have traditional engines. These could include Lister JP2/3, National, Russell Newbery, Gardner, Ruston Hornsby, and Kelvin. It really depends on what you want from the engine; where the boat is to be used, and what you want it to sound like. We can supply re built engines, or you can supply an engine for us to fit. We also fit new engines such as Perkins and the Beta Range.

THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

The electrical system on the boat needs to be designed according to the appliances on board. You have to remember that you are taking the power station with you, even though you may be plugging into a shore line at a mooring. Think along the lines of where the power is to come from (engine/generator), how the power is to be stored (battery type and quantity) and your typical power useage on a weekly basis.

THE FIT OUT.

Again, the choice of timbers is up to you. There are large surface areas to be covered, and this can be done in plywood, or individually fixed planking. We have also used plastic laminates in the bathroom, roof, and cabin sides. All the timber can either be varnished gloss, or satin, or have a colour wash added. It's a good idea to look at some fit outs first to see what you like.

We're here to help, as we appreciate how difficult it can be when confronted with so many choices. An initial phone call or e mail, followed up by a visit will get you on your way.
